Akshay Kumar has once again proved that he is the undisputed king of Bollywood. After giving nine back-to-back hits in the last three years, Khiladi Kumar has once again struck gold with his Independence Day release. Mission Mangal, which hit the screens on August 15, is unstoppable at the box office. The film which entered the Rs 100-crore club in five days of its release is now eyeing the Rs 150-crore mark.
And going by the numbers at the ticket windows, Mission Mangal will soon touch the mark. The film, which made Rs 135.99 crore in nine days of its release, did great business on Saturday too. Mission Mangal earned Rs 13.32 crore on Saturday, thus taking the total 10-day collection to Rs 149.31 crore.
Mission Mangal, which is Akshay’s biggest opener so far, is set to cross the lifetime collection of Kesari (Rs 154 crore) soon.

Based on India’s maiden interplanetary mission – the Mars Orbiter Mission, Mission Mangal tells the incredible story of the team of scientists who took India to Mars. Along with Akshay Kumar, the film also stars Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Sharman Joshi, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menen and Sharman Joshi.
While Mission Mangal is doing great business at the box office, Jagan Shakti-directed film wasn’t the only big Independence Day release this year. The film clashed with John Abraham’s Batla House.
If Mission Mangal is eyeing Rs 150 crore at the box office, John Abraham’s Batla House has crossed the Rs 70-crore mark in 10 days of its release.
With still five days left for Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor’s Saaho to hit the screens, Mission Mangal is set to rule the box office for the next few days as well.
